NDIBS commenced trading on 1st July 1998 by Ian Childs as a vehicle to serving our customers. This was and continues to be almost exclusively large institutional property managing agents as well as Commonwealth Government Agencies, State Government Agencies and Local Government authorities, plus a number of individual owners who respect the due diligence of utilising independent assessment that is reflected in our business.
Ian provided his first fire safety assessment and report in July 1989 after the NSW Environmental Planning & Assessment Act was amended to require all but Ord.70(BCA predecessor) Class 1a & 10 buildings constructed from July 1988 requirement to submit a Form 7 which later was known as a Form 15a and is now titled Annual Fire Safety Statement (AFSS). What this means is that in Ian, you can be assured of awareness of the relevant installation code and its specific performance requirements which must be met by the services in your building.
We believe that any incumbent contractors, irrespective of their skills or ethics, cannot match the due diligence of engaging an independent assessor who has a thorough knowledge of the installation codes pertinent to the individual site for all of the installed services including all essential services systems: sprinkler, detection, interface, hydrant, gaseous, aerosol, portables, fire hose, fire blanket, fire door, smoke door, fire seals, fire shutters, fire dampers, fire windows, emergency warning & intercom systems, paths of travel (including materials in compartments), emergency lighting, exit signs, curtains & fabric, emergency lift, lift communications, fire group & recall, lift landing door smoke seals, emergency car lighting, building standby power, emergency plans & procedures, smoke hazard management systems, and fire engineered alternate solutions.
We have been engaged by a number of the companies who provide service and maintenance, where they lack the necessary skillsets to endorse all of the required measures or where they simply wish to reflect best practice to their customers.
